A London-based software developer and "hacker" has said he is under police investigation after going to Syria to fight against the Islamic State group.

Amir Taaki, 29, a leading developer of online currency Bitcoin, was once named by Forbes as one of the most influential young people in technology.

This is pure rubbish! This guy was fighting for the secular YPG (the Kurdish militia) and he was helping them to defeat the ISIS barbarians. More than 2,000 Brits have traveled to Syria, in order to join the ISIS. The government doesn't have any problem with that. But they are going ballistic after finding that a single guy dared to take on the ISIS.

What exactly is 'pure rubbish' because that's exactly what the article says:

And the UKG would have arrested anyone fighting for ISIS on return and likely wouldn't have bailed them so hardly 'going ballistic'.

Damn. I was quite surprise to see this news about Taaki he just went AWOL and re-surfaces now with this?

He was fighting AGAINST the ISIS.

Is this that difficult to comprehend? IMO, anyone fighting against the ISIS should be declared as the national hero of the United Kingdom. Instead of that, the government decided to prosecute this guy. And this is the reason why I used the word "rubbish".

War is always bad, and when the war to die such people it is very bad for the whole earth. Amir Taaki is certainly not killed, but how many like him are killed in wars. In Ukraine for example were killed defending the homeland of the Russian invasion, the soloist of the Paris national Opera Vasily Slipak. How many such heroes are killed in wars around the world!

If someone will benefit from one or the other side of the coin of this incident, then this person may be accused or acquitted without any consequences. But as they say, there is no smoke without fire. If they say, it means that it was somewhere.

If I were the police I would also be suspicious of someone in Bitcoin and going to Syria as well. The authorities see BTC as a tool for money laundering and going to Syria now.. well no one does that unless they are joining ISIS. So the TV tells us..

Since bitcoin very much hinders some governments in terms of taxation and other issues, then with the slightest problems, they can look for opportunities to work on bitcoin. And communication with ISIS can be a good reason.

Till now, there has been only one instance of Bitcoin being used to fund the ISIS in Syria and Iraq (that was by some Muslim guy from the United States, who was arrested). The ISIS seems to be having other payment gateways to get funds, such as Qiwipay.

It seems to me that no matter what payment system. If we assume that there will be no payment systems that ISIL will be funded in cash. Before when there was bitcoin and other payment systems in the world was not terrorism?
