There are a lot of people that suggest changing wallet if you have bitcoins stored on Blockchain.info!

Is it true that bitcoins are not safe in Blockchain.info online wallet?

Yes it's true as it is a web wallet and it can be penetrated anytime by some intruders out there who are hunger to have some easy bitcoin.

Suggestions before the hard fork is to store your bitcoins on a wallet where you are holding your private keys so you are safe of it and you had the control for it.

You can use electrum or mycelium for it, I'm only waiting for blockchain.info's announcement regarding the fork.

If they've no announcement that they'll be giving out their users the free coin, I'll transfer it to electrum wallet.

If you have a blockchain.info wallet, then you have exclusive control of your keys. After the fork, if you don't like what they are doing, you can move your keys to another wallet.

A blockchain.info wallet is not dangerous. At the worst, it might be inconvenient.

The major thing you have to consider with this upcoming fork is that,which coin they will be considering as bitcoin,make sure that you know what you are doing and then come to a conclusion ,some of these web wallets are favoring the fork and if you hold your coins in those exchanges you might not get your bitcoin back,so be careful this time around.

Blockchain.info wallet is not totally safe since its only a web wallet and can be easily attacked like what ordinary web site. But there is still an advantage using this wallet even it receives too many criticism.
Like this upcoming fork blockchain is enough and good for using and saving your funds there since you can access the seed which has a function like the private key, once you have the copy of it then you're safe, just make sure that you're the only one knows it.

That's at least far better than Coinbase and other online wallet services that don't actually provide you with the keys you should at all times have access to. I am not at all a fan of using an online wallet service, but if I would, they at least should allow me to access my private keys at any time. I however don't see a point in using an online wallet service when you consider that there are very decent light weight mobile wallet clients where you at all times have control of your private keys. On top of that, people no longer enjoy free external transactions, so the main reason for people to use such services is non existent anymore.

Sites like blockchain.info can be taken down last time they're down afaik it was a year ago and it took a few days before they got the site back up. If you don't have a backup/private key of your wallet your basically have no access to your wallet. I've heard an old news about blockchain.info that there was a lot of bitcoins stolen from different wallets. Turn on 2fa to make things more secure. It's a decent wallet imo but not the best or dangerous.

If they are in any danger then all the Bitcoins stored on legacy addresses are in danger as well, I have never manually checked to see if my keys, seed were sent out to their servers, but so far I've been using their free services and appreciate it, they could be waiting for the right moment to pack their bags and hit the roads then jump girls with our money and without even inviting a beggar at least for the jumping part. lol.
Just don't move your Bitcoins for at least 48 hours after and before the fork. you could also import your seed, known as identifier into Electrum without dashes and have access to all of the addresses generated by that seed.

There are definitely safer places to store your coins. But regarding the fork, your coins stored on Blockchain.info are technically safe. That is to say, if the fork happens and you do nothing, your private keys on Blockchain.info will still have access to all your coins.

The biggest danger is in using Blockchain.info after the fork to receive payments. They may be following the 2x fork. So if you are expecting payment in BTC, they may say you are receiving BTC, but you really might be receiving B2X. The only way to know for sure is to use a full node implementation like Core or Libbitcoin instead of Blockchain.info. A full node will not accept B2X for payment.

The other main danger is that if you use Blockchain.info to broadcast transactions after the fork without first splitting your BTC and B2X from one another, your transactions could be "replayed." i.e. If you only intended to send B2X, you might end up accidentally sending BTC too.

I see still they are undecided on what chain are they going to support after the hard fork and if you are still searching for a new wallet better just use a wallet where you have the private keys.

That's the best thing to do right now and don't let your bitcoins sleeping on any exchange even there are some that says will be supporting both chain.

Just don't let yourself confused there's that much tips from the experts on what we should do before and after the fork and on where we should put our bitcoin.

On the technical note, your coin should be "safe" with Blockchain.info during the Nov. 16 fork. They announced that they will suspend any transactions in their wallet during the fork. They also said that if there will be any network split, they will follow the chain with the most accumulated difficulty and refer that chain as Bitcoin. They provided this information in their blog post in this link. They have a concrete plan on what they're gonna do during the fork so that the fund of their customers will be safe.

Also, just to be on the safe side, it would be best to write down your backup phrase if you have the time. Do some research about it before taking any action to prevent any loss from your part during this important event.

this was what I wasn't understanding, but now it is more clear.

If now I own 1 btc on blockchain.info, after the fork my 1 btc still remain 1 btc (plus 1 B2x or B1x)

I thought that during the fork my 1 btc could eventually became 1 b2x.

Now is clear, thank you, I don't have to move my bitcoins from blockchan.info, eventually move bitcoins to another wallet after the fork if they doesn't support btc anymore.

Does anyone have a proper support contact at blockchain.info wallets?

My dilemma

My blockchain wallet identifier had two btc wallets associated with it. .

I had to recover my wallet account due to login problems resulting from authorization emails not be delivered to my inbox.

The wallet recovered successfully and a new wallet identifier was issued. The new account only shows one BTC address and the bulk of my funds were in the other which is now missing.

I have attempted to get in touch with Blockchain but have not heard any response as of yet. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any substantial help will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.

I have the private key - Not sure which BTC address it belongs to unfortunately

technically bitcoins aren't safe in any web wallet , so if you want to move your bitcoins from blockchain to another web wallet that won't change a thing
blockchain still better than many web wallets so I guess better to keep your coins if you don't want store offline

regarding the fork I guess there is nothing to worry about , you can get your private keys and handle your bitcoins if blockchain decided to support the fork coin

Everyone should be worried about the fork with this company considering they can't even help me with the bitcoin cash fork.
I manged to get a small amount transferred over to my Trezor wallet but a large amount are in some pseudo transfer that has locked me out from transferring the rest.
Many coins locked with their company and nothing has been done to fix the issue for over three weeks and barely any response. They keep changing the status of my request when nothing has been done. Anyone have any ideas I am all ears, PLEASE HELP!!!

It's straight forward and everyone should just leave their bitcoins in a wallet where they can generate their own private keys, that way they can store it up the way they want and then keep the keys safe from the rest of the world.
