file version missing in Win executable

Many Windows users rely on Secunia to keep software up to date. Bitcoin-Qt client is currently missing from Secunia database. There is a feature available to suggest new software, however it fails because bitcoin-qt.exe lacks version information.

This is a problem, especially in the light of recently discovered vulnerabilities in older versions.

0.7 will contain some new meta-data information in bitcoin-qt.exe but will lack version information until we can auto-update this information during the build process. I have a pull-request open for a manual solution, which won't make it to current master though.
