Qt reindexing whole blockchain

So, we had some bad wind today. Power went off for a few seconds and my desktop shut off. I run a full node with bitcoin qt. Now, on startup it needs too reindex the whole blockchain. Any way to avoid this in the future?

Get a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). When the power goes out, it should provide enough power to safely shut everything down.
