This is the text of the email. Mark as Phishing and move on. Even their typos are horrible btw:

That is not much of a scam.  Biggest thing is figure out how you made it on the list.  Somehow they got your email.

And they are not hiding what they are doing... .so don't know if it really falls under Phishing.

1. Log into your Gmail account.

2. Pull up an email from the offending sender. If your inbox is flooded with messages, just search for that person’s name in the box at the top.

3. Hit the down arrow to the far right of the sender’s name.

4. Click “Filter messages like this” from the list that drops down.

5. Fill in the criteria for messages you’d like to stop receiving. To block all messages from this person, just enter his or her email address into the From field.

6. Click “Create filter with this search.”

7. Select Delete It to trash all mail that matches criteria in step 5.

8. Click Create Filter. If you want to remove all existing messages from that person, check the box next to the blue button that says, “Also apply filter to X matching conversations.”

Voila, you have just blocked all emails that will ever come again from that spamming email address.

At least nobody has sent any btc to that email address yet...

Ye but the email is probably warning you (if its real that you are on a list) that in the future you will get spam but not only from that email account but from a variety of other emails

This is more extortion than pishing, don't?
Any way it is easily avoidable by ignoring the messages or changing email

Possibly I agree it's not pishing as it does not hit it.  What I wonder is where the email list came from.  I was not on it.

What do all of you that got it have in common?

Emm... who would fall for that one?
But it's definitely irritating if you're whole inbox was flooded with this.
Some could be tempted to send...
But let's not forget the 'report' button.  Wink

I haven't looked at the introduction to bitcoin stickies in a while, but isn't there some generalized "Look out scammer everywhere" caveat pretty much right at the beginning. Security is paramount when you enter the realm of digital money, and that's not just protecting your private keys.

I guess if you don't know that, no one can help you really. but yeah, watch your back at all times. scammers prey on the naive.

I basically don't even open emails that are from people I don't know, certainly don't believe anything a stranger sends you. I'm even wary about surfing the net. My internet habits are considerably different than before i got into this bitcoin jazz.

be ever vigilant!

But how would that stop other advertirsers of spamming your inbox since you are supposedly on a ''list'' that supposedly a lot of people have access to. Im pretty sure its an obvious scam attempt and you are not in any list but since they have your email already you could very well be on a spam list

it look more of an extortion email than a pishing, i don't see any link to click on

just ignore it and block the domain of their spam in your email, or just send them in the spam folder directly
