So from the tech un say how can the site chemical love get away with all this? Surely the person hosting the domain will be forced to take it down?
I get the bitcoin payment part but how on earth can this happen? Here is an article I read about it http://motherboard.vice.com/read/some-brazen-drug-sites-are-now-operating-on-the-normal-web

I just don't get how they can do it. Somehow someway its easily trackable and easily shut down?

To peel or not to peel.

They buy "bulletproof hosting" from the same Russians and Eastern Europeans who sell banking trojan hosting. Clearnet crime sites have existed long before Tor was ever around. Tor will keep your crime site from being easily denial of service attacked though, these new clearnet drug sites will get hammered with DDoS and ransom requests (probably from the hosts themselves DOSing their own clients to upsell "anti-ddos premium protection").

There are also plenty of "hidden" and invite-only drug sites on the clearnet, but also sites who do some domain/hosting jumping regularly.

It's not easy for an outsider to find these and the same goes for the authorities.

bullet proof eastern european hosting? How can that be possible? A police visit would soon sort that out.

Corruption i would guess. Though if these site owners are clever then they registered the domain with fake details anyway. So even in case the police comes, the domain simply would vanish and they reupp at a new domain. This game happened with streaming sites alot already. Though of course some of the owners get catched. For example because they funneled affiliate money improperly.

Anything big enough will get more attention by everyone including governments, if it gets as big as the silk road it will be shut down eventually.

I have heard that some of these sites are being opened up by drug users that are being paid by the drug cartels. They just use these people to do the dirty work for them and they get paid with drugs. Some people will do anything to get their hands on drugs.

They can rinse and repeat this process every time the site gets busted and taken down. The drug user then have to take the rap for the mess. Money and drugs can buy you anything these days. It's beyond evil.  Shocked

That is some serious abuse of people that are dependent on your product... Although it should be pretty clear to any law enforcement that a junkie is not running a platform like that, the punishment is probably quite minimal.

"“We're going to deny access to Russian users to the site, to avoid heat from the local law enforcement,” Mr. Evil continued, which further suggests that the site may be local to Russia. He also said that Chinese users would not be able to use the site, and vendors would be asked not to send products to those two countries."

Interesting. So where are they? China or Russia? Or Chineese and Rusian law enforcement work together?  Undecided

“If you went up to a random person on the street that liked drugs, and asked them to buy from Silk Road, do you think they would spend the time researching Tor, finding the .onion, then logging in, versus someone just giving them a URL?” “Mr. Evil,” the administrator of Forbidden Market, told Motherboard in an encrypted chat."

Ok, so his logic says.. people will not take the time to research Tor, but they will take the same time to do research about a new currency or payment method {Bitcoin} also unknown to them?

They know they can create these sites and register them without much hassles, that is why they not making it too complex, and running them in the dark web.

This will become more popular and people will find ways to hide within plain sight.  Roll Eyes

Not only there. There was a case in germany where a big company arose that sold microsoft windows keys. Though the keys they sold were illegal ones.

Who was the owner of the company? A young man with cancer. He lived the company to it's fullest but everyone said that he only was the chosen scapegoat who is allowed to play CEO until he dies. I mean... no risk involved for the persons behind and the young guy. He dies anyway...

Even when it's clear... how should they prosecute the persons behind? The mafia surely has no contracts you can show around.

I even heard this in low scale blackhat internet marketer. Using an indian to register some not so legal website. Their law system might protect him anyway when copyright things are involved.

The thought behind is probably "Why having two hurdles when you can have one?". And we know with certain streaming sites that it is easy to recover. New domain, add a 2 at the end, and you are ready to go by simply duplicating your websites content on that new hosting. Maybe you even don't need to copy, only change the IP where the Domain name points to.
