I remember reading that a lot of useful web innovation starts in the online pornography industry.  think of them as early adopters.  bigger mainstream sites then take up these innovations when they can see how well the use case applies to themselves as well.

I think of backpage.com as another early adopter proving the success of the use case.

Who associates online subscription services (think cloud services) with the online pornography industry? Smiley

This is just a phase, and most importantly all the signs are that we are moving in the right direction!  Keep hodling.

There are bound to be pros and cons. The positive side is definitely one that will help drive towards mainstream adoption. The negative is definitely on bitcoin being used as a currency to fund underground movement, hence it's association with illegal activities. But think of this, for it to function as a currency, it must be able to be used freely without restriction. Also you can't just stop anybody from using it.

I am not really interested in the services offered by that site, but we shouldn't be shy about having drug dealers and escorts using bitcoin because it shows the value of the currency if they are willing to go out of their way to learn to use it.

I would go so far as to say that if the Euro or USD couldn't buy things on the grey and blackmarket I would be tempted to start calling those units of value coupon credits or gift cards rather than true currency. A currency needs to be fungible and allow the end user the ability to make decisions and contract as they wish.

I looked at my local area auto sales section and was surprised at how many local used dealers are listing their autos on back page.  I guess that means their buying btc to do these listings.
