Look at the topics posted in the Off-topic forum. Many of them are simply asking for your answers to simple questions. Are they being used by the NSA, or by Bitcointalk, itself, to profile you? Maybe they are even being used by the NSA to find out about you personally. After all, the NSA can track your response back to you through your ISP.

Yeah I've noticed that a lot of questions in off-topic look like they're from marketing companies trying to gather information.

Assuming the NSA, et al., doesn't practice such, but gleans data from what's presented within organically whether said data is willingly handed over to them or it's collected mid-stream, do you think they would exert extra time and expense to contrive threads?

I'd say their hand's full without having to create more work for themselves.
