Following charges filed by the US Attorney’s Office against Burt Wagner for operating an unlicensed money transmitting business in the state of Colorado in late 2014, the criminal case has been dismissed by a district court judge.

What is criminal is that he has to pay $90 000 to defend the truth. They knew from the start that they had no chance of winning the case, but they had to make a point.

I guess they will go after the marble traders in schools next... or the people who sell goods at the Flee markets.

They seize goods with a sealed warrant .... and arrest him for no good reason... sending 22 cars to his house. I wonder what his neighbors was thinking? Drug lord? Serial Killer?

In my country not even 3 cars rock up when someone was murdered... I guess they have a very low crime rate in Colorado for that many cops swarming down on a house for

someone who was suspected of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business.

I don't remember hearing about 22 police cars coming to his house, that is truly disturbing in the "Land of The Free".

So he will get that money back, right? $90,000 is quite a lot of money. For me, it is almost 10 years of savings. In my country, if some person is wrongly charged with a crime, then the accuser should refund his legal fees and all other expenses. Can anyone confirm whether that is the case here? Also, Burt should file a court case against the Colorado cops for harassment.

Here is a version of the story I found online. Very distressing, if true: http://www.jmwagner.com/

So far, no, but he's trying to get everything back (electronic material, computers, cellphones, his Trezor and the Bitcoins they moved from there). He also has tor rebuild his house, which was searched from top to bottom

No refunds in the USA.
If "the accuser" gets the district attorney to press charges, then you pay for your own defense. We cannot even sue the (Federal) Gov't in most cases, since they are immune under current law.

Sometimes, you can sue villages/cities/towns over police abuse and get a big payday.

Well if you are running over the $1,000 a day it is good to get a MSB license or whatever you need to do so.

Where did you get the number $1,000 / day?  Source?

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

I'm really glad the case was dismissed. The whole thing is shocking.

Good luck in the future, Burt.

If that is the case, then why can't Burt sue the state of Colorado for the damages which he has incurred (lost Bitcoins, trezor wallet, personal computers, structural damage to the house, loss of cellphone.etc)?

Is it possible with this particular case?

You can sue, but winning is whole another thing.
