Thoughts on using XBT?

Seems bigger corporations want to use XBT as the Bitcoin ticket (CNN and Bloomberg for example). I like BTC. I get XBT because many international currency use an X...thoughts? Do you think this name will grow if BTC booms?

I prefer the standard BTC, however XBT is not bad. This might cause some confusion to the people that are not familiar with it.
There have been discussions on reddit about this in the past that you should check up on. They provide some information in regards to Bloomberg using specifically XBT.

Thanks. I know kraken uses XBT. I wish they didn't, prefer if everyone stuck with BTC...

In that case, I while back I bought some XBT domain names just in case haha

I don't care which one it is, but I do care that it is not consistent. Everyone is so used to BTC, once XBT is seen people get confused

I would like to stick to BTC exclusively and avoid confusion. BTC is nice and simple for most people and does not need an explanation behind.
But from the other hand the "X" seems to refer to alternative currencies not controlled by any government similar like XAU is gold on the FOREX market.
But I am afraid that "BTC" will never be a standardized ISO 4717 symbol. It looks like XBT might...

But I prefer BTC! Like others said its simple and non-confusing! And yes, this was the first short name of Bitcoin i heard when i started using bitcoin for the first time

Same here. I feel like BTC has become a known symbol while XBT is fairly new and much less common. It's not popular even among the bitcoiners so why should it be recognized by the rest?

This was discussed around here a while back. There was even a poll, and mBTC, Bits and other denominations were considered... I think BTC is simply the best, everyone already uses it and it is widely accepted and known. I would also accept the usage of XBT for the same reasons, it's also widely known as referring to Bitcoin. Other than that, I think it's just confusing for new users (although bits is also gaining some traction)

I prefer BTC as it's what I've used to abbreviate Bitcoin since I discovered & started using it. I don't really care that much though in the long run what it gets called by banks, huge organisations, stock markets etc as long as the price goes to the moon & we all get rich from it . I'm not exactly going to fight to the death over what we shorten the word Bitcoin to .

btc nomination is what most people know and use but i personally prefer btc instead of xbt. there are several companies and exchanges using xbt which i think will get more used in the future.

Because, like a lot of people said, it's because the X is for a non governamental currency, like XAU for gold and XRP or Ripple.

I am used to BTC, it would confuse me to call it anything else. It might make some people think its an altcoin.
