(Scratching head...)

Well, you could equally say that of any politician.  Fact is, you've got one here that's bitcoin friendly.

Hate him all you want, that is what it is.  By the way I agree with you that we can't create a cause and effect model of the success of Texas using Perry as causation.  There are many factors at work and he may reflect them, more than being a single cause.

Regardless, here is a factoid for your liberalbrain.

Uhaul truck rental FROM Texas to LA - $500
Uhaul truck rental TO Texas from LA - $1500

LOL...

Strange that you think I'm a liberal just because I know Perry is an empty shell/puppet.

I don't hate him, I know that he has no chance of becoming president so he really does not matter. That's why I don't see his stance on Bitcoin as that big of a deal. Other than the fact that him talking about Bitcoin would probably hugely misrepresent it to people who listen to him and hear about Bitcoin for the first time.
<<blah blah blah>>

It does seem you are incapable of making a single sentence without insulting oppositional politicals.  That's rather tedious and a waste of my time, when the subject is one endorsing bitcoin.  I do have an opinion that bitcoin needs diverse support and does not belong on one side of any political spectrum.

Oh, by the way, LBJ had exactly the same kinds of insults as you offer Perry, and Bush.  Meanwhile people from CA, NJ and NY keep coming to Texas.

Have a nice day!

Quote
US presidential candidate Rick Perry has stated he supports "regulatory breathing room" for digital currencies such as bitcoin.

That's supposed to be an endorsement? Some "breathing room"?

I like Texas, I lived there while Perry was governor. I was even a Republican delegate at the state convention in 2008. I would probably live in Texas if I came back to the US. But Perry is about as fake of a politician as you can get.
Okay.

Let's just note that I do believe Perry has had a hand in the current and projected favorable climate for bitcoin in Texas.  As does Abbot, and other individuals and entities.  Which is night and day compared to some other states, such as New York.  And I'm not even interested in the "Perry for President" thing, can't get serious about it.

Interesting...  I would not expect Gov Perry to take a stance such as this, perhaps perception/awareness of crypo-currencies is greater than I thought.

Let's be honest here, this is not a stance...he said "I'll support regulatory breathing room" which means he wouldn't actively pursue or make a priority (of his administration) writing regulations around bitcoin use. This isn't much. He's not saying he believes in bitcoin or even that he understands what it is. He's just saying "it's not a priority".

Let's not give him too much credit. He's a conservative, which means less regulation for business and industry. Hopefully bitcoin is allowed to mature and be used with minimal regulation...only time will tell.

Tell you what, lets turn that logic upside down.  Go ahead, vote in another bunch of Totalitarian Fascist Authoritarian Controllers from the Democrat side, which means more regulation.  But don't come bitching and complaining about the severe restrictions of then resulting strangulation-through-regulation-to-death of bitcoin.
