Dear miners with big Antminer S5 farms,

I want to calculate approximate losses from my mine from defective S5 miners

Could you be so kind to tell us what % of your Antminer S5 become defective and stopped working after you started your mine?

Have you tried to repair them somehow?

best regards,
Sander

I did a survey of sp20 owners loss rate is 4-7 percent.

I may do an s-5 survey but think that 5 percent is a safe guess for a six month time period.

Note the sp20 survey was done from my main account philipma1957.

Wow! 5% loss is quite painful if it's true!
Does anybody have actual numbers about S5?

Well I got about thirty people to answer. More then three hundred machines .

I had thirteen all of mine worked well. Low clocks good power supplies.

I think five percent is pretty close plus 1 or minus 1 for the sp20.

as for the s 5 no survey. I do think the s-3 was really good maybe two or three percent but the s-5 does seem a bit worse then the s-3.

I don't think 5% is a shocking number especially for a new style of hardware that is running 24/7 (these mines never ever turn those things off) I mean just look at major hardware companies and they have a similar death rate and those things are turned off commonly.

Also most miners have a lot of gear.  This means a lot of heat and heat kills gear.

I have exactly 100 pcs of S5.

2 of them has problems with boards.

1 of them is unaccessible.

2 of them is running, but not hashing.

Beside this I had 1 notworjing fan.

I also have 40 S4.

5 of them has burnt PSU.Many (more then 10) not working fans.

Action:Bitmain sent PSUs without any cost for S4s.For S5 , I have sent a board and we have been writing to Bitmain for control board and not working board.I will send you a feed back about my customer experience and their attitude as soon as we have conclusion.

I used to have (I do not for the moment) 20 pcs of SP20.I have run them for 6 months without any problem.
