Power Supply Selection

I'm looking to purchase one power supply that we can confirm will work with 2 Antminer S3's, each over clocked, with 8xPCI-E 6 pin power connectors to power all 4 rails.

I was reading on the Corsair cx750M that it can power one Antminer S3, possibly even two, but not over clocked.

I'd rather not fumble around, should I get a corsair 850, 1000, or something completely different?

Cheapest and most efficient would be preferred.

If you could point me to the right model # that would be great.

If you want a single power supply to run TWO S5 miners (as you stated), then you need an absolute minimum of 1200W, without overclock. You really should allow more like 750W per miner if you wish overclock at all, which means more like 1500W total. I don't know why you wouldn't consider two power supplies instead of 1. You didn't state your location or electrical system voltage (e.g. 120V in the USA), but you might find it easier to deploy one per S5.

You could consider one of the server power supplies advertised on the Marketplace sub-forum. While economical, they might be a bit loud depending on your situation. They will likely be the cheapest and fairly efficient.

Your mention of an 850, or even a 1000 would only be good for a single S5.

You want to make sure you get high quality cables and connectors with your supplies.

He mentioned 2 S3 but yes server psu is my choice anyway. I use(d) dps2000's and they are very trusty.Need to add cooling fans though.And I make my own cables.

I ran a CoolerMaster 1050w atx psu for two of my non-overclocked S3's but an Evga 1300w psu should be more than ample or a 1200w.  Server psu's can be a little whiny compared to the quieter S3.

Yes you can run 2 Antminer S3+ even if they are overclocked with one Corsair 750W PSU but the wires will be very very warm and you will eventually kill the PSU because you are running it at 95% capacity.

The RM series is a good one.  I personally have had great luck with RM1000.   Used with man different miners.

Recently though there has been a switch for people to go over to server PSUs.  In most cases you will save money going this route.  Just make sure to get good gauge wires with it.  A lot even sell in a kit.

I was looking to buy server psu as I have bought a 3rd s3 recently that's running on a cx750. Too messy with all those cables so I want 1 psu to serve all 3. I was looking at an ax1500i but the cost is far too much,especially when an equivalent server psu is less than 1/2 the cost.

The cx750 and the ax1500 are really not in the same class even.   Were talking about very low and a very high end ATX psu.

Either way yes best most likely to look into server PSU.  If you get kit with server PSU, breakout board, and wires chances are that is best bet.

I don't have anything offhand good enough for three S3, but I know two overclocked S3 should run fine off my 750W kit. I ran a pair of 400MHz S1 off one PSU for several months without issue when we first started building them, and S1 run hotter than S3. One decent 16AWG cable per side on an S3 should be sufficient even at higher clocks.

A 1200W server PSU like what gigampz sells (as Philipma mentioned earlier) should handle three S3 pretty well.
