Solar systems panels?

Does anyone has already built a solar system? Is it with flat panels or with vacuum tubes? Which of these system is better?  I know that these system has go in the history and the future is in the photovoltaic panels. They are very expensive and they have a problem with battery.
First variant without connecting the heating system, this should be feasible with flat solar panels and second variant is with own solar system for using water for shower. it is better (it will e cheaper with vacuum tubes and heater water).
Can you give me a specify companies which produced and installed solar system.
