I had a 5850 in my machine and was able to mine LTC without any issues.  Popped in a 7970 and update my configs and drivers, now I'm getting tons of HW errors displaying.

 U:4.7/m
[2012-10-01 23:47:47] Scrypt error, review settings
[2012-10-01 23:47:49] Scrypt error, review settings
[2012-10-01 23:47:50] Scrypt error, review settings

Running the following:

--shaders 2048 --intensity 12 --worksize 256 --lookup-gap 2 -g 1

Any ideas why I'm getting these errors?

Thanks.

Code:
export DISPLAY=:0
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

Try this before starting cgminer.

use reaper for 7xxx, cgminer struggles with large amounts of memory usage

+1 Reaper and LTC seem to pair fairly well

These are my results

reaper + LTC = Best

CGminer + BTC = Best

CGminer + PPC = Best

To answer your original question: You probably should of deleted whatever binary the program created based on your settings. Since it was originally created for a differnent generation of card that mayyy have been causing your issues.

I've run cgminer on my 7950 before with 'non-normal' --shaders set and it wasn't an issue crashing wise. (just crappy hash rate lol)

Problem has been fixed, now cgminer should be able to use 7xxx cards effectively as of v. 2.7.7 :-)
