I think just over 6,000 mentions is enough, if they accumulate over a short time window.

Just 6,000? I would think it would be a lot more, like 50,000. I don't know much about how Twitter works though.

Just 6,000? I would think it would be a lot more, like 50,000. I don't know much about how Twitter works though.

Hashtag trending happen when in a short time eg. 15min the hashtag accumulates many mentions like over 6,000. But trends don't last for long.
Hashtag trending is different from popularity.
