How much can you mine at home?

It is not about where you are mining. Home or Data Center does not matter. If your home has enough spare space, then it is as good as a Data Center. But, it is about how much hash power you do have.

mining at home in those days is near impossible if you dont want to ruin yourself, most of the countries have an expensive power bill, unless you have cheap or free ( the dream of mostly of the bitcoiners ) electricity, you can't mine at your home because is not profitable.

it will depends on electricity, cooling system, and mining hardware you have, mining depends on thse factors not on where you are mining

If you want to sleep well then you need to have some quite rigs like USB mining btc/litecoin.
There are also some other bigger rigs but they fans are annoying and you should move them to another unused room if you have any.
The profit is not good so it is not preferably to mine at home especially if you home is small, personally i have stopped mining at home.

Mining bitcoin directly from home is quite impossible nowadays, atleast if you want to make money.

Also the golden times of altcoin mining seem to be over due to scrypt asics and the many scams around that will just suck your money into a big black hole.

Best is to just use the money you would spend on mining to buy some coins.

There is not a good on size fit's all.  Electricity pricing varies so much there never will be a yes or no anwser.  Also you need to have a good amount of electricity available (depending on how big you want to go).

It was not easy with my heat during summer but I was able to get around 14k worth of mining gear during the heat by using lot's of CFM's from fan's.   I have 100 amp just for mining.   And 200 amp meant for house but I could put some in the house and use that to.   

But some places might have 100 amp only where not a lot of extra electricity.  Or apartments might have even less depending on set up.  So you really need to know your electricity max aswell.

 You also have to factor in noise tolerance or ability to put the miners in a room/garage/whatever where the noise won't matter.

If you could get a used efficient miner for cheap that is working well, it could be profitable if you have very low electrical costs. You can overclock your miner depending on the noise that you can withstand since higher hashrate=higher temperature=higher fan speed. It would be preferred if you have a garage and you could set it up to mine it with high overclock without much disturbance to you.

I think electricity price is most likely the biggest.  As if price is to high that you make no money but have a lot that could be devoted to it.   

Also some countries VAT/import kills the deal.  If you have this research it and see how much it will cost.   So basically make sure you do your ROI math before buying.

There some disadvantages if you are living in EU because the price of the mining rigs are very high.
Because these equipments are heavy you have to pay a good amount of money in shipping.
I have seen that some kinds of students have free electricity but you can't live in the same room with these rigs if you plan to have a good profit.

I've only ever had one rig in my room when mining, it was not at student housing though.  For most it would be a pain to have a miner in your room, and they are not geared for a lot  of electricity on student housing.
