Microsoft is ready to save your PC from huge ransomware infection

TeslaCrypt doesn’t mean anything to many PC users, but there are thousands of people who have somehow contracted this infectious malware program that imprisons personal files on a computer until a monetary reward is paid. There already are tools that can deal with certain versions of this dangerous ransomware program, but Microsoft decided to step in, creating its own rescue tool.

That sentence should read as follows (taken from the original report on ZDNet):

Quote
Microsoft's Windows telemetry data picked up a large spike in detections for TeslaCrypt in late August, jumping from below 1,000 detections per day earlier that month to over 3,500 on August 24.

Guess it must be one of the worse experiences when you startup your pc and run into something like this.

Backup, backup, backup.....

Personally run a backup that makes incremental images daily with full images every couple of days and store these offline. So I'm able to restore all files at any point to anywhere back up to about 4 months. Hopefully this will help me recover from something like this should it ever happen.
