My Electrum's status has been stuck at 'Synchronizing…' for many days. I have tried re-starting many times. I have upgraded to the newest version. I have tried switching to many other servers under 'Network'. Nothing helps.
The problem started when I initiated the following Send transaction:
b2ac3945c5abd8430dbc3bd36af3eb1a02111024fb161cf6f64410d861de448e

I gave the transaction a description.
But, seconds later, I edited the 'Description' of the transaction to a more descriptive one for my reference, while the transaction was still processing. At the time, Electrum changed it to the new description without a problem, and the transaction was confirmed multiple times and reached its destination.

But the next day, Electrum seemed to have created another copy of the same transaction:
a215eb9e1f2e41d526ca0568208bdb3e414d3fe74fb1bdfc01a75df0584c8cd1

This one was the exact same transaction as the one that was confirmed, but with the original description before I edited it; everything else was the same. Which is why it is showing as a conflicting transaction:
'A conflicting transaction has been detected in our memory pool. The transaction hash displayed below may change.'

This conflicting transaction has been in 'Pending' status for many days and nothing is changing with it.
I suspect, this is the reason Electrum's status is not resolving from 'Synchronizing…' to showing my wallet's amount.

How can I delete this conflicting transaction or do something else so that my Electrum's status resolves from 'Synchronizing…' to normal status which shows my wallet's amount?

Thank you.

in the python console, type: wallet.clear_history() and restart Electrum.

And, please do report here if it worked.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I did not work. Status still shows as 'Synchronizing…'

Now under 'History', all the transactions are there as before along with their Dates and Descriptions, but the 'Amount' and 'Balance' columns all show 0's.
I am very new to the Bitcoin scene, I am concerned that I am going to lose my bitcoin amount. Is there any way to backup or save my wallet before we try the next thing to try to fix my wallet?

Thanks!

master public key received.
I did not have any problem restoring from xpub.
I tried various servers, but I did not see any duplicate transaction.

can you try to restore your wallet from its seed?

@OP: I forgot to say that you would have to upgrade to version 2.5, before trying wallet.clear_history()

Hi Thomas,

I restarted Electrum and it is now showing my BTC balance and history correctly. The problematic Pending transaction is gone.

You mentioned to download the latest version 2.5, but on this page:
https://electrum.org/#download
Version 2.5 is not available. It mentions only 'Latest release: Electrum-2.4.4'.
It might be available on Github, but I use a Mac and I am not advanced enough to know how to compile/self-install the 2.5.
--
For next time, if possible, please let me know how to avoid the repetition of this problem.
It would also be nice if you could include this problem in the Documentation and the relevant command line commands or other actions which will resolve this issue if it happens in the future.
--
I'd like send a donation to your project as a thank-you gesture, can you please let me know the address or is any address from any server under 'Console' a valid address to send the donation to?
Once again, thanks so much for your prompt attention and stellar help! Smiley
