Good evening everyone,
I'm putting the final touches on a new website that I hope new and existing users of Bitcoin will find beneficial. It's called the Bitcoin Consumers Union and its goal is to help facilitate a fair and just marketplace for users of Bitcoin.
We'll work toward this in three ways.
First, we will register and create a ratings system for merchants and vendors that conduct business in Bitcoin. We will be an independent and non-biased source for consumer reviews, complaints and recommendations for merchants. Our reviews and ratings will come from BTC users.
Second, we will list common scams and highlight reports of fraudulent activity amongst BTC merchants, vendors and providers of service. We will distribute "action alerts," fraud warnings and issue a quarterly report on Bitcoin usage and consumer confidence.
And finally, we plan to work with merchants and vendors to adopt basic standards of fairness with regard to the marketplace.
But I need help. I need a few members of this community to join BTC CU's Board of Advisors. These folks will volunteer their time to help the organization adopt a mission and a plan of action.

I also need to compile a comprehensive list of common scams and and attempts at fraudulent behavior within the BTC community.
We're all interested in promoting a thriving BTC economy, and while the vast majority of BTC users and merchants are trustworthy, there is an element that will take any opportunity to use and abuse the system to their own gain. I've read far too many stories of users that have been scammed, hacked or otherwise tricked into sending their Bitcoins off without receiving anything in return. A lack of knowledge about the available tools can easily be remedied.
