Are you just wanting to use the wallet? If so get a lite client like multibit or electrum and it'll be ready to use instantly as you don't need to download the entire blockchain everytime.

If you want to have more nodes connected, just google to find some bitcoin nodes than edit you bitcoin.conf files in bitcoin folder in appdata/roaming : addnode=x.x.x.x (this is usually applied to alt currency but I think every coin is the same Grin )

While addnode works for bitcoin core, its usually not needed. There is also no bitcoin.conf by default it needs to be created. Addnode makes more sense to be put into console anyway.

Its somewhat normal that you have less connections than you can while you sync. Only 3 is a bit low though. Do you allow connections from the outside?

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Good decision, multibit currently compromises your privacy by sending small amounts of bitcoins directly to multibit developer from your every transaction.

at max you can have 8 connections without running a full node and allowing outbounds connection, so having 3 or 8 will not have a big difference

leave the client for soem time, it may take a while in certain case to reach 8, it's not immediate, i've experienced this in the past

No. Im not sure if are suggesting OP switches to a different software or a different wallet.dat file. Either way, its not going to influence the number of connections positivly.

If you use a different programm the number of connections are 0, because you no longer run bitcoin core.

If you use a different wallet.dat file you have to close bitcoin core and establish new connections, so again you start at 0.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Client fee. Whether or not that compromises your privacy depends on how you use multibit. I would also think that it was changed as 1000 satoshi would be considered dust currently. That would hold up confirmations.

Didn't know that. I've been using multibit classic for a few years now and never noticed any additional fees. So I guess it's only for multibit HD.

Yes, its HD only. I would argue that you are harldy compromising anything due to the fact that only pay up every 20 TX by default. Additionally IIRC you can pay an amount up front via the donation button that will turn the automated donations off for the number of transactions you donated for. So if you buy them a coffee from time to time there is no extra fee.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Effective connection for what? The minimum you need is one connection.

If you connect to only one peer, if the peer has bad connection to the network, then will you have bad connections too?

Yes, by default though bitcoin core will establish 8 outbound connections. If your machine is unable to hold that many connections you should probably not run a full node. The chance that all 8 peer are badly connected to the rest of the network is very small as they each hold at least 8 connections as well.

Will this 3 connections increase with time? Say it is 3, but after one day it will increase to 5, then 8 after 2 days?

You usually have 8 connections even durring sync. There are enough nodes on the network that allow outside connections, no need to wait 2 days.

@shorena - Are you on any kind of DT list now (can't be bothered to look). I've noticed over the last 6 months, maybe more that your input & value to this place is definitely growing.

I just wanted to commend you on your superb technical knowledge. I know we don't have votes to name mods or anything but you deserve some kind of recognition for your efforts.
