new laptop

im a newb when it comes to mining but i got a new laptop today and wondering if this would work.  asus a53e-ks91 6gb memory and 750 gb hdd.
im not sure about the grafix card tho.  would this work?  if so what is are my best options?  like i said im a newb any help would be greatly appreciated.  i thought this forum would be better than newb since the topic (let me know if im wrong).

I'd think mining BTC would be a waste of time on such equipment. LTC mining might be worth a look but don't get too hopeful there either. I tried a bit of LTC mining on my laptop and it managed a whopping LTC 0,64 per day. No point running poor Fireflash into the ground for that.

raspi can be used to mine with FPGAs or the upcoming ASICs. It doesn't actually mine itself, it just runs the software.

You can use it to mine with an attached FPGA or ASIC USB device. It's a linux system, but only uses about 4 watts of power (compare to your PC which probably uses over 100 watts). That's why people are interested in it because of its low power consumption.

I heard this too. It sucks because the PI can't put out that much power. It's completely passively cooled, so anything more powerful, and it would just about catch on fire. I already feel bad for running my CPU/GPU on my PI at 100% for an hour or two while working or watching videos. I can't imagine the board would last long running 24/7...
