Egypt says Turkish authorities have arrested an Egyptian family of 12 that was trying to cross into Syria to join the Islamic State group.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Monday statement says the family was arrested in the southern Turkish city of Adana, near the country's border with war-devastated Syria. The family includes three children.

The ministry says it demanded to know the details of the case and the nature of the charges pressed against the family.

Exploiting the civil unrest in Syria and Iraq, the Islamic State group seized large swaths of land in both countries and declared a "caliphate" in summer 2014. The group has attracted followers and fighters from all over the world.

Monday's statement does not say how Turkey knew the 12 wanted to join IS.

It's good to see that Turkey is working with EU on that.

But still, I don't trust this country. Let's not forget that the Turkey president is a fucking extremist himself! It's not because he arrested a few travellers and claim they were joining ISIS that he sundenly becomes a nice guy...

You know maybe this family did absolutely nothing but they were just on the wrong place at the wrong moment. Or pissed of the government and so went in jail and the ISIS thing is here just to give a justification...

In fact yes...it's little odd that Turkey is now anti ISIS, as we all know they are supporting them..maybe must do sometimes actions like that: arrest few people every few months and bring tv,cameras, media and in same time hundreds of people are crossing to Syria to join ISIS

Sure they did. They'll "arrest" them, feed them well and give them a cozy place to rest for a few days, and then send them back on there way with a pat on the ass..

Or put you in jail in cell with 20 people inside or more..and then you have 20 other people to beat you and worse plus the guardians..and you won't get out from jail probably never

It seams to me that these arrests are to little and to late since turkey let 35000 or more killers transit to Syria.

Maybe do this sometimes to show that they are not working with ISIS..ridiculous attempt..there is explicit evidence about their oil trading with terrorists
