If both cards are reference, there are very few differences between them. If I had to pick one, I would probably choose the Sapphire model. Why? Sapphire has more experience with making ATI/AMD cards. Also, Asus has been known to alter card circuitry locking in voltage settings, causing problems for hardcore overclockers. Go with Sapphire, they've been making Radeon cards since, well, Radeon existed as a 32MB AGP card circa 1999. Go with the ~13 years of experience, IMO.

I personally like the Sapphires. They seem a bit more stable. That's what I am mining with.

Sapphire is what I'm using. Using BAMT gives you all the overclocking you want. Most stable using CGminer.

Asus - The benefit to the consumer is a lower priced product for the same or greater performance.

Using all kinds of brands and having great luck with all cards of the 5850 model so far. Sapphire and Asus both running like champs over here.
