And why is this a problem?

Because you can only lower the price with that formula. That does not give you control over stability in a bear market.

There are however options to reduce the amount of coin supply by burning the transaction fee, such as with Paycoin...
In that case you can create transactions with selective higher fee which burns x amount of coin in the sense that they are destroyed for real

That's totally unrelated to the OP, though. In any case, who would selectively raise their own transaction fee?
