Find the data directory and put the wallet.dat file in there. Use this for reference: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory. It should be the same as Bitcoin's but instead of the directory being named Bitcoin, it will be named Litecoin.

BTW, this belongs in altcoins. I will report it.

i understand, and i put the .dat file in the correct spot. the problem is when i run the wallet program it is constantly at 0.0000000000 coins. should i expect them to show up in a few moments? whats realistic?

From what I see you either have the wrong wallet.dat (or the correct one is in the wrong spot) or you dont have any LTC. If you see no transaction history its probably the wrong wallet.dat.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Have you attempted reindexing the wallet yet? You need to go to the debug window and type -rescan -reindex

The link below explains how using -rescan -reindex fixed a bitcoin wallet, but it works for litecoin too. Your wallet might need those commands to force it to rebuild its database using the blockchain it already downloaded.
