I haven't heard so cannot tell something based without having all the needed news. It will better (to not tell necessary) that this kind of news be accompanied with some link which give full data about the news. In this way everything write must be constructive and useful to be read and commented. But with one row what can be told is that it is a very good initiative and that must followed even by other important institutions of this stature. As for the help that this initiative will give for bitcoin cannot be told nothing. The digital Currency is not only bitcoin. maybe those can propose other initiatives which can be competitive with bitcoin. Must be read what is this initiative to comment such thing.

Strange that this lack came from a good creator of threads like Huobi-USD.

Looks like a lot of experts are brought together from many different fields that may touch digital currencies.

Seems like a good initiative!

As long as it empowers Bitcoin and they don't try to create some sort of bastardized version of Bitcoin to please bank's and "the powers that be"/status quo interests, then yes, it's great, but all those organizations and iniciatives need to be studied before being positive with them.

By the sounds of it it looks like a very positive thing. MIT itself has developed many innovative things in its labs. Evidence-based research is a must in order for Bitcoin to survive and hopefully the MIT Digital Currency Initiative is willing to make their research available to the general public. I hope they do and don't just become a private think-tank for companies and government.

It won't drive 'acceptance' of Bitcoin, but I think we'll finally see some new use cases outside of the norm.
