This was a FALSE ALARM

My browser must have a bug because SSLhopper says the MtGox SSL website certificate isn't out of date.

I tried to access the MtGox website and found its SSL certificate has expired. My browser threw out this warning that the site couldn't be trusted!

When I checked the certificate status my browser showed this certificate expiration information.

The only place that I know where we can find out new developments in the bankruptcy proceedings is the MtGox website. The lawyers are paying themselves huge fees, and they have also hired Deloitte to help them.

With all their expertise why can't they renew the website's certificate on time to reassure people seeking information that they are safe to view the site?

That's strange, I tried it again and accessed the site with no warnings. When I checked the certificate in my browser it said it's safe by showing this.

To make sure it's safe I checked the MtGox domain with SSLhopper, and it said the certificate is good for over a year.

I don't know why my browser threw that invalid warning at me. There must be a bug.

I edited this thread's title, and the OP to say the certificate has not expired
