Hi Guys,

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out.

I have downloaded by Bitcoin Wallet, and it said 'synchronizing with network' for a few days, at around 65%.

I then went and sent some money to my Bitcoin address that my wallet said to receive coins at.

When I returned home, I had a confirmation email that bitcoins were sent, however there was no bitcoins in my wallet. It now says 'out of Sync' and I have no option to try it again.

I'm a computer novice, and do not know a lot, however I would really appreciate someones help.

Thank you

Hello,

the client from bitcoin.org has to download (and verify) the whole transaction database (which is like 3 or 4gb already)
so in worst case this can take very long to finish.

But don't worry, to ease your mind you can check your bitcoin address on blockchain.info or blockexplorer.com
and you will probably see that your coins are waiting for you Smiley

Just let the bitcoin wallet running until it has catched up.

Your coins are safe, don't worry about that. They won't show up in the client until you've completed the synchronization though, but you can verify the existence of the coins by pasting the address at blockchain.info and looking at the received coin column.

Thanks ^

Only thing is, is that it currently doesnt say it is syncing?

It just says 'out of sync'.

It used to say it was syncing until I exited it. However now it just says the above.

Any ideas?

I just checked Blockchain and it seems as if it has gone through.

Just worried about it getting to my wallet now, as it doesnt looks like it is syncing.

Refer to above post. Cheers

Is your client connected to the Bitcoin network? (hover your cursor on the small bars on the bottom right corner of the client GUI)
The out of sync messages are usually shown if the last downloaded block is from too long ago. I'd let it sit for awhile.

Make sure you are on the most recent version of the client (v0.7.2).

If you haven't yet, you can close the client and restart it -- maybe for whatever reason there is blocking in the program that isn't resolving by itself.

If that doesn't work, try rebooting and give it another try.

Does it show connections (bottom right of the client?)

If not, then perhaps you are having network issues?

The debug.log will give more info as well.

[Edit: And if you really need access right away, you can always use the debug panel to get the private key and then import that private key elsewhere, like in Blockchain.info/wallet.]

. . . like in Blockchain.info/wallet.

EDIT: blockchain.info has acted in a responsible way and removed from MemoryDealers all future access to personal information.  They could not know in advance that MemoryDealers would abuse the access allowed them as an employee.  As such this post has been edited to make it clear that blockchain.info is not responsible for the actions of this particular ex-employee.

But if you choose this, be aware that blockchain.info has a reputation for violating their own privacy policy.  I wouldn't recommend using them, but if you choose to do so, don't give them any of your real contact information.

I'm not aware of this, other than how they scrape the bitcoin address from a publicly accessible forum and link that forum user to the address.  Is that what you are describing?

No.  I was describing an event today with someone at blockchain.info who was previously given access as an employee to be able to see personal information normally appropriately used for support purposes.  This employee had then inappropriately shared this personal information with bitcoinstore.com to assist bitcoinstore.com with dispute resolution.  blockchain.info has since removed the offending individual's access, so they have identified and properly dealt with the situation.  At this point I can again in good conscience recommend their service and have edited my post above to reflect this.

Sigh. How many of these threads will it take before links to bitcoinqt are removed from bitcoin.org?
