Hia guys,

So I'm using my CPU to generate bitcoins I know I should be using my GPU but it sucks.

I'm using BTCGuild as my pool but whenever I click the "Start Mining" button nothing happens!

My specs:
Duo Core (2.80 GHz)
Windows XP

I'm a newbie so its probably something really simple!
Thanks for the help!

you're sure your username and password are correct for BTC Guild?  at least for Slush's pool, you need to register yourself before you do any mining that will contribute to the pool.  other than that, the BTC Guild website seems to be down.  maybe it's not just you. (edit: btcguild.com says the pool was hit by a DDoS attack recently.  not sure if it's related or not.)

as a side note, i would really recommend against mining for bitcoins with CPU.  when i was mining with Slush, i was working with a fairly powerful GPU (ATI 7770), which crunched ~182 Mhash/sec., running at around 16 hours a day.  it took me a month to accumulate 1 BTC.  i'm not sure if even a good CPU will exceed 5-10 Mhash/sec. while using all available cores.  as well, i believe you will see marked decreases in overall system speed if you're using a CPU to mine, as opposed to performance decreases in only graphically-intensive environments while mining with a GPU.  these are just my experiences.  good luck.
