I have this idea and I'm not sure how good is it , let me know if you like it or not .

Bitcoin Anti-scam (name can be changed of course) , just giving the concept of the idea here .

Most of you may know the famous anti-virus BitDefender , when you visit a website that contains malwares or viruses it gives you:

Bitcoin Anti-scam should have the same thing ,It will be a software linked to a database (database contain URL of the website e.g Cryptsy.com and proofs that the website is a scam/scam accusations etc ... )

If someone want to visit the website , It will block him and not let him visit it and give him a list of the scam accusations and proofs that the website is actually a scam . (User can obviously choose to enter at his own risk if he wants to) .
Software will be only for bitcoin obviously and not every website on the world (adding altcoins related website is an option too) .

So what do you think ? (some of you may see it as a dumb idea, I know)

It is an interesting idea, but I'm the spirit of bitcoin I think those scam sites should be in a decentralized database somehow and not a centralized database server.

Yes but how are we supposed to do that exactly ? I mean if you the owner of Cryptsy and Cryptsy is a scam ... you will go to this "Decentralized database" and simply remove it , right ? So it wouldn't make much sense

It is an interesting idea, but I'm the spirit of bitcoin I think those scam sites should be in a decentralized database somehow and not a centralized database server.

A centralized database poses a risk in that the names of websites that you want to visit will be checked against the database, potentially leaking information to the database owner. Therefore, a centralized database is a no-no.
However, a major problem with a decentralized database is to avoid malicious negative entries made by companies to hurt competitors. If the database is not curated by someone you trust, it becomes worthless pretty quickly.

Well a centralized database curated by one person may not be trustable. If that person runs a scam site it could not be in the database.

A centralized database poses a risk in that the names of websites that you want to visit will be checked against the database, potentially leaking information to the database owner. Therefore, a centralized database is a no-no.
That is easily fixed by having each software download a local version of the database to check against.

I see couple problems here:

1. What are the criteria of some projects being a scam? - is is hard to define this matter in some cases.
2. Platform of  distribution - this program will be browser addon, part of an antivirus or other antimalware tool?
3. Who will decide if some site or project is a scam? It should be more people involved in evaluation of potential candidates.
4. We need to find people who will manage this project for free - or find a sponsor.

1. It's simple , when people report it as a scam (x amount of people)
2.I'm not sure if it's possible to do without making an browser extension , If it is then It will be a program .exe (open source)
3.As I said above , It's going to be people who try the services .
4. I would (as the creator of the software)(unless you have better suggestion) , for the moment It's just an idea but I will definitly work on it if more people get interested and give more opinions about it .

It's a nice idea.
But I don't see any sense. You can just Google that faucet and see is it scam or not.

Believe or not , most of people don't do that & Cryptsy is one exemple , you can see shitload of posts about them scamming people but people still use them then ask "why I can't withdraw" and that kind of stuff ... which basically gave me this idea on the first place

Point 1 and 3 it should a review from trusted people, I mean how if person who reported is a competitor company A(for example) to make company A be stamped as scammer.

Its definitely not a dumb idea. What the problem is,bitdefender or other anti- virus program detects the "type of files" on a particular website which are likely to cause a malware. The static web pages are not harm at all but the scripts or the file that could be installed from the server into your local computer are blocked by the bit defender .As far as bitcoin related web pages are developed there are not really any such files (could be in the case of keyloggers but that will be blocked by bit defender as well)which are prone to verify that the site is scam.

I know that , but in our case It will be either the domain or the IP of the website itself . I was giving an example using BitDefender just to make the picture clear to everyone .

Would it be feasible to have some kind of database of addresses that are related to scams and detect those?
Scammers probably change addresses pretty often, but it might be useful still.
