After many failed attempts, my windows full node (bitcoin-qt) finally caught up. Should the blocks folder be slightly over 60GB or is there duplication in there?
Nope, that is right. The blockchain is around 53+ Gb of data and it has extra databases and such for those raw blocks which make up the rest of the data. It will only continue to get larger. If you want, you can run it with pruning which will reduce the size of that folder significantly as it deletes most of the blockchain after it has been downloaded. You cannot use the wallet when pruning is enabled yet. That will be enabled in 0.12.0 which should come out in a few weeks. They are already making the rc's so it should be soon.
