UK-based monitoring group claims 85 civilians have been killed while state media says as many as 300 died in Isis onslaught

An attack by Islamic State on the eastern Syrian city of Deir Ezzor has left at least 85 civilians and 50 government troops dead, a monitoring group said, with state media denouncing a “massacre”.

Syria’s state news agency Sana, quoting residents, said as many as “300 civilians” were killed in the onslaught.

If confirmed it would be one of the highest tolls for a single day in Syria’s nearly five-year war.

The bloodshed in Deir Ezzor came as regime forces battled Isis in the northern province of Aleppo, killing at least 16 jihadists, and as airstrikes hit the Isis stronghold of Raqqa.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Isis had advanced into the northern tip of Deir Ezzor and captured the northern suburb of Al-Baghaliyeh.

Initially it reported that 35 Syrian soldiers and allied militiamen had been killed in the multi-front attack, which included a suicide bombing.

But as the day unfolded, the death toll rose, with the Britain-based monitor saying that civilians were among those killed in Deir Ezzor.

It said most of the victims were killed execution-style in Al-Baghaliyeh.

Quoting “local sources”, Sana denounced a “massacre”.

“The [Isis] terrorists carried out a massacre in Al-Baghaliyeh, claiming the lives of around 300 civilians, most of them women, children and elderly people,” the agency said.

It quoted the Syrian prime minister, Wael al-Halaqi, as saying that the “legal and moral responsibility for this barbaric and cowardly massacre ... lies on the shoulders of all the states that support terrorism and that fund and arm takfiri [Sunni extremist] groups”.

When is the USA, Russia and all other civilized countries going to unite to Destroy ISIS once and for all. Their brutality and savagery has to stop for three benefit of all people.

According to the latest reports, more than 300 civilians were killed and 400 more were abducted. And we can expect almost all of these hostages to be executed by the barbarians. Horrible.

Deir Ezzor is home to tens of thousands of Christian refugees, who were displaced from various Assyrian, Armenian and Chaldean villages currently being occupied by the ISIS. Many of them were among the victims.

Why do we have to spill our blood (Americans) to fight ISIS?       ISIS has Spawn from the Degenerates of the "Peaceful Religion" Islam.  Why aren't the 1.5 Billion Muslims in the world Uniting to fight these Degenerates?

Surely the people of Islam has enough Warriors to fight their own Hellspawn.

With the exception of the Assyrians, Armenians and the Yazidis, most of the regime forces are composed of Muslims, be it the Shiites or the Sunnis. Also, the Kurdish Peshmerga is almost entirely Muslim, with the exception of a few Yazidi brigades. So it is the Muslims who are fighting the ISIS. Others, such as the Russians and the Americans are only giving them ground support.

Isis fighters abduct up to 400 civilians in major attack on Deir ez-Zor

UK-based monitoring groups says at least 135 people dead and abducted are all Sunnis and include women and children

Islamic State fighters have abducted more than 400 civilians after capturing new ground in a major assault on the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor that left dozens dead, according to reports.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Isis killed at least 135 people in the multi-front attack that began on Saturday.

The dead included 85 civilians and 50 regime fighters, according to the human rights monitor, which said on Sunday that Isis also kidnapped more than 400 civilians from captured territory.

“Those abducted, all of whom are Sunnis, include women, children and family members of pro-regime fighters,” said the director of the Observatory, Rami Abdel Rahman.

He said they had been taken to areas under Isis control in the west of Deir ez-Zor province and to the border with Raqqa province – Isis’s main stronghold in Syria – to the northwest.

The monitor said at least 42 Isis fighters had been killed in the attack and that fighting was ongoing, with regime forces backed by Russian airstrikes trying to recapture lost ground. It added that regime forces were bringing additional troops and military equipment from elsewhere in the city to the battlefront.

Syria’s state news agency, Sana, said at least 300 civilians, “most of them women, children and elderly people”, were killed in the assault. It denounced the deaths as a “massacre”.

It was not possible to independently verify the reports.

Guys... this is very serious. The ISIS is in control of around 70% of the town, and the fighting is still ongoing. The regime troops are heavily outnumbered, and are very dependent upon the Russian airstrikes. Some 250,000 civilians are trapped in the regime controlled part of the city. If the ISIS manages to over run the regime defense line, then the entire population will be butchered.

It's easy to round up defenseless civilians, and this is their practice when things are going bad. To completely eliminate ISIS down to the last atom you need to do it on the ground, hand-to-hand, If it were possible to get every civilian armed and ready then there would be a chance.

I feel bad for the civilian caught in the cross fire specially the children they already know what chaos is. Me as a grown man, haven't experienced that kind of situation yet, I hope after this war is over the children who survived the war will stay strong and go on with their lives not being scared that a bomb will fall down where they're standing.
