Hi,
I have a version(0.8.1) of bitcoin-qt, for linux 64-bit, from April 2013, when I started downloading the blockchain.
I gave up the download, in the end, because my internet connection was limited.
At the time, if I recall correctly, I had downloaded about 6GB (roughly 80% of the total blockchain at the time). Now I believe the current size of the blockchain is approaching 60GBs.
My question is : Do I have to forfeit that 6GB partial blockchain, if I want to finish the job? Or do I have to start from scratch using the latest client?
I've been using light wallets since I last ran bitcoin-qt. I haven't had any interest in downloading the blockchain but recently watched Chris Ellis's fullnode project vids on youtube and I was inspired to run a full node.
What are my options?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Jim
