Hey guys, I just had an idea for a digital portable credit card sized wallet inspired my a Rex I had back in highschool (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REX_5000)

What if I designed a device in a similar format (Credit card sized, large forward screen) which has the ability to:
- Manually Enter Address
- Scan QR Codes via small camera on the back
- Display QR Code for others to scan
- GSM/3G/wifi/BT connectivity for network access - but is only connected on demand - for security and battery life
- Some type of pin code or biometric security?

Thought of this idea when people are bitching about using a phone for BTC transactions due to battery life issues. Battery life on a device like this could be very good - months perhaps. Especially if you have an old school monochrome LCD or OLED, backlight which is only on in dark conditions, and carefully manage the connectivity. Future payment terminals could broadcast bluetooth PAN connections (or something equivalent) to allow low powered access.

But for neartearm use, it might be a good "hardware" based portable wallet instead of using the bitcoin client, even scan QR Codes on your computer screen and send directly from your device - which could be stored in a safe deposit box and such for longer term storage? MicroSD card slot for wallet backup?

Maybe a good idea, maybe not? Thoughts?

I thought this would be perfect http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/11/nxp-gesture-smart-card-nfc/

NFC. so you set up your transaction on Android, and then hold this card up to the back of your phone, and it will sign it for you.  Only the card has your private key.
