BitStamp detected yet another scam targeting Bitcoin users. Much publicized, the Bitcoin community has faced threats from hackers and other plays for years. Oftentimes, phishing attacks have been used to trick users into giving up their coins to criminal elements. Other times, ransomware attacks have opened the door to a new realm of cyber attack.

Oh wow... doesn't chrome test extensions for invasive code before allowing them into their webstore? FYI, you can report this extension by visiting this page. Write something like "this extension executes malicious code that aims to steal bitcoins from users" and hit submit.

People who use online banking services are faced with the same challenges and banks are fighting off the same problems. This is definitely not unique to Bitcoin or any other payment option. If money

is involved, people will try to get at it. Let's just report these little buggers and move on to more important things. The best solution is to use some sort of Linux OS, and/or VM ware and clean boot

every time you use these financial services.

Banks are at an advantage here, they have the strongest 2FA, which is having to go through various steps of authentication including providing personal information and coming in contact with human beings that they employ. The fact that fraudulent bank transactions are reversible is a whole other topic.

it seems like the only safe way to keep your bitcoin away from hackers and malware is to open your wallet on an old PC that you do not use in your daily online browsing.
But why Google do not scan their browser extension good before adding them on their site? they are responsible for that too
