As per title of thread.
I'm a UK citizen but the problems the same in British politics (as in the US).
Are we, by voting, adding weight to a system that is letting us down badly ?
Would it be better to abstain ?
Or is this as good as its gonna get - so we'd be better throwing our hats into the ring ?
There are ways around it. For example, I have explained to many of my friends of differing political persuasions that a candidate with actual practical experience such as in business or government administration, is far, far better than a legislator.
In practice, translate into "a governor is better than a senator."
Apparently this isn't obvious to a lot of people. Apparently, they want to vote by way of looking and candidates and saying "I like so and so...". And they mean just that, that they see a face and a body and hear the mouth moving and they "like him (or her)."
