Create a new wallet by importing an existing wallet file

Someone suggested I import my wallet.dat via the link:

I tried to do this; however, the error I get when I attempt to load the wallet is:

"Unexpected end of file from server."

Any ideas?

Try importing to an offline client. As I said in your last thread Electrum is a solid choice. I use it myself for my regular wallet

Click the setting button in the corner and select the Import/Export tab

I see the "Lite Mode" button, the "preferences" button, and the "network" button.  The "preferences" has an Import/Export feature, but they are limited to:

1.  Labels
2.  History
3.  Private key and
4.  Master public key

I see no area to import my wallet.dat.  Moreover, I will need to identify the "blockchain" address for my "lost in space" bitcoin, which is also unclear how to identify this location within the Electrum client.

FYI....No luck at all with Electrum.  The Wiki provides no guidance on importing wallet, and the command line "help" is in error.  The Electrum files are installed under "Volumes/Electrum" and the -w /Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/wallet.dat doesn't work.  So.....no dice.

Any ideas?   

Maybe it is timing out, or perhaps it is encrypted and the import utility can't accommodate wallets that have passphrase encryption enabled.

You might instead look at trying the Desktop Sync method for blockchain.info, where it grabs the keys from the wallet from your running Bitcoin-Qt.

Or you could export the keys from Bitcoin-Qt (right from the Debug window) and import those into blockchain.info/wallet
