Can the bitcoin community start making a serious effort to start moving trades to other exchanges?  MtGox honestly kinda sucks.

I've been eyeing Bitfloor for a while, but it'll take a few days of focused effort to get my scripts talking to it reliably, and I've got a day job so "a few days of focused effort" is a precious resource. Still, you're right that I've been putting it off for too long.

If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. If there is something that will make Bitcoin fail, it is the prevalence of users convinced that BTC is a magic box that will turn them into millionaires, and of the con-artists who have followed them here to devour them.

This is one reason I'm just holding for now. I won't try to trade until we get an exchange with both liquidity and capacity for heavy volume. Bitcoin not entirely ready for prime time till this happens IMO.

Bitstamp is operating just fine and in fact price there just corrected to 86, so you can't even buy at 80 there. So this whole panic is completely mtgox-trade-engine induced dip.

Last price:$89.00000
High:$95.70000
Low:$75.00111

giant spread. btw site works fine Gox has DDoS protection, if it's running slow it's because of their jerryrigged VPS eating up memory due to 'the cloud' sucking huge dongs for anything except low resource using sites
