A U.S.-based advocacy group that recently disclosed nearly 100 allegations of sexual abuse by international peacekeepers in Central African Republic said Wednesday the United Nations has documented 41 additional cases.

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric would not confirm the new allegations, saying U.N. investigators need to be "careful and methodical" in interviewing victims and determining the number of cases.

The United Nations late last month said 108 alleged victims of sexual abuse had been interviewed in Kemo prefecture, east of the capital, Bangui.

"I would not be surprised if that number goes up a bit," Dujarric told reporters Wednesday.

AIDS-Free World's Code Blue Campaign to end sexual abuse and exploitation said it had received a leaked cable from the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Central African Republic saying investigators interviewed 59 women and girls from March 25 to April 4 and documented 41 new cases.

The advocacy group accused the United Nations of "evasion" for not disclosing the details of its latest investigations.

Messed up that we send people in to make things livable and end up doing the same perpetration they faced before they arrived on the scene. Saw a similar story and it stated where the majority of the offenders in this issue where from and why it was some form of entitlement for them.

Sexual abuse by international peacekeepers has become almost a regular occurrence now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse_by_UN_peacekeepers

Not just the UN peacekeepers, but also the private security contractors (DynCorp, BlackWater.etc) as well as the NATO peacekeepers have been accused of committing sexual abuse in territories in which they were operating.

The NATO "peacekeepers" are even worse than the UN peacekeepers. Check this:

Quote
The presence of peacekeepers in Kosovo is fuelling the sexual exploitation of women and encouraging trafficking, according to Amnesty International. Amnesty says girls as young as 11 from eastern European countries are being sold into the sex slavery. t says that after 40,000 K-For troops and hundreds of Unmik personnel were sent to Kosovo in 1999, a "small-scale local market for prostitution was transformed into a large-scale industry based on trafficking run by organised criminal networks".

It seems some of these peace keepers are just plain hypocrites. They do not really care about the people they are supposed to be helping, they are only doing the job because of the pay they will receive.
