Try neoscrypt, zpool has a good pool for low hashing rigs and you can be paid out in different coins if you choose

Magicoin used to be quite profitable to cpu-mine. Don't know about the diff and the price nowadays tough.

Do be carefull: you'll burn your laptop in notime, and the chance of breaking even with your power + laptop cost vs the coins you'll mine is almost nihil...

Yes, i am aware of this danger. Therefor was Burstcoin so interesting. It uses almost no power so the laptop didn't get hot. But Burstcoin has now miners with harddisk farms Smiley Miners with more than 100 Terabye HD. And than is the joy for the small miner gone. Undecided

I know the feeling.... I to have mined burst when 256 Gb of disk for plotting was more than enough. Like you say: nowadays, you can still mine in a pool, but solo mining is out of the question if you don't have a big farm Sad

My experience with Holdcoin isn't turned out to a succes. After 40 hours of mining there wasn't found one single block. I had calculated that with my hashrate and the total hashrate I must have found one block in about 30 hr. But i am not a lucky person i presume. 1 found block in 30 hr with the current exchange rate would have brought me at the breakeven point. Conclusion it's not profitable to solomine HOdlcoin without special equipment.
Besides that, it is also bad for my computer because he became pretty hot.

If you can't decide which coin to mine, you can try nicehash miner, it is good on mining different altcoins using just cpu or gpu or both at the same time (but that will fry your laptop). Nicehash miner uses automatic switching algorithm so it will mine the most profitable coins at anytime.

I recommend you not to mine with a laptop... cooling methods aren't really good and you could burn it

Nvidia GPU (especially Maxwell) is good on Quark algo. You can mine Securecoin [SRC] on the pool src.yacoin.club
