Ehh I am not sure if $1000 is a good idea for ether, it seems hot in the crypto community but also about to have a fallout for lisk. (I guess the crypto community can have flavors of the month) I would be all for mining and trading for btc but a straight up 1k investment. High risk but possible high reward.

If the number of Ethereum is capped at around 100 million with small inflation due to PoS, then it is possible for the price to be $1000.

It depends on the actual usage of the Etheruem. If it is widely used by companies in the smart contract, the price will rise.

when its between like $8-$10 USD

NO, if it is around $1-$2 i may consider buying some but not before that. it is still expensive and what i see in the market is just dump with dead cat bounces.

hoping the price fluctuates to $200-$300 per coin over time?

the day i start making decision based on hope is the day i lose money.
also it will never reach $200-$300 at the very best if everything comes into place and stars line up the price can go up to $20

Also do you believe ether will become more & more popular as time goes on?

i believe a coin that started by spamming (advertising itself) and spamming FUD about bitcoin to increase the investment in ETH lacks real value that does these things to get popularity.
so it will not become popular in the future either.

Finally I read online Microsoft has began experimenting how they could apply ethereum/decentrilzed market to better their company? Any other information you'd like to share feel free!

microsoft is playing around with a lot of altcoin these days, apparently!!
