You know the guy is Australian, right? Those are the people who built the "rabbit proof" fence.
You probably have never read the minutes of the Australian parliament, so let me summarize those "meetings" for you. What happens is that one "legislator", or whatever they call members of that body ("Yobs"? I don't know), makes a proposal. The other members then hurl abuse at him for about an hour. This abuse invariably involves comparing the sponsor to Hitler and providing quixotic analogies purporting to show how the proposed idea is something that Hitler and the Nazis would do. After the idea is shouted down in that manner, the process is repeated by another Yob making a different proposal. Very occasionally a proposal is accepted and they embark on a project such as the "rabbit proof" fence, Tasmanian wolf cloning project, project to apply anti-cancer cream to kangaroos, or whatever it is. When they are done doing that they brag to each other about who is descended from the most famous criminal(s) and/or prostitute(s).
Trust me, nobody in Australia is programming any bitcoin clients or inventing cryptocurrency algorithms.
BTW, I like how the newspaper describes him as an "Australian computer scientist". That is a double oxymoron.
