background of most miners

Hello all,

Being my first post i wanted to ask a question i have not seen on here yet.

What type of life do most of you live? Do you work full time? Mine full time? Work in a tech field? How did you find out about bitcoin.

Ill go first... I do IT consulting but always looking for a comfy IT job, i have many times thought about setting up rigs in clients buildings or jobs i have worked but to better judgement never did. I have about 5 years in IT and am in the middle class in the US. I found out about bitcoin about a year ago while trying to sign up for a anon VPN when they took "bitcoins" for payment.

lol... im not asking for personal details, just background on what other folk do. ive never met anyone that knows what a bitcoin is let alone mining.

so mostly IT folk or gamers, so most are running windows. That would work in favor of most gamers. I tried running my cards on ubuntu but couldnt get the temp probes for the gpu's to come up. maybe it was a driver issue.

My friend told me he knows one other guy that has heard of bitcoin, he goes to a local university and a comp sci major. To what extent of what he knows is unknown, but he never heard of mining.

Why would the government care? Bitcoins and Bitcoin mining is legal... its what you use the coins for is what can get you in trouble. Just like torrents, alot of legit uses for distributing linux distros. But mostly used for piracy.

I guess I'd be defined as an unemployed home studying student close to being self-employed, bit confusing I know but that's the economy these days, Bitcoin's putting me on track much faster than I anticipated though because it lets me earn money! Not just work for a hundred years to get a few thousand in paper that won't even get me a car.
