You should make your own research before investing in a coin. If you want to trade, you should go for the coin with the biggest volume. |

ETH price has levelled out a bit so it's a good time to invest in some especially when you consider what the price will be in 2 years time. Don't make the same mistake many did buy not buying BTC when it was $10 and look at BTC price now.

eth is done. don't listen to these eth bagholders. eth have no future as it is bitcoin 2.0 with bloat blockchain and not designed for long term, say 20 or 50years. http://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/143/what-are-the-ethereum-disk-space-needscurrently eth keep adding about 1.6gb/month to blockchain and soon will be 100gb/m the future is bitcoin 3.0, something like lisk with sidechain. |

Well, it is your choice whether to invest on ethereum. Don't use other advices, this will not be helpful to you since most of the people in here have their own interest when talking about altcoin investment.
Eth lovers and followers will surely push you to invest on eth while others will not, and push you to another coin which is at their advantage if you invested. Good luck on picking !

So what's the final verdict from the experts here? In the long term will it sink or float? I'm getting ready to convert a portion of my Bitcoins into ETH (not sure how much but definitely not more than 1 BTC). Not looking to trade or anything, just planning on holding for a couple of years or so. What say you? Good or bad idea?

DO NOT DO IT. not because ethereum is bad or anything i say this because you said "i am new in trading". so investing without knowledge means losing your money. also ethereum is on top of a pump (inside a bubble) which is about to burst so buying now means going down only. |

I'm no expert but I like the idea behind The DAO. ETH provides more scope for innovation than all other altcoins as far as I can se and once the current bubble bursts in a few days, I'll buy a few more to experiment with. Setting up contracts on the Mist browser looks interesting but I've failed miserably to come up with anything meaningful so far.
