I'm just curious. How many of us are above 40? This isn't an age-exclusive thread but I'm curious how many coiners are old enough to remember UUCP.

Interesting I am 45+ but had forgotten the Unix to Unix "copy" abbreviation (was that from the usenet days?).

I post for interest - not signature spam. https://vod.fan - fast/free image sharing - coming Oct! Will Theymos finish his $100,000,000 forum before this one shuts down?

Shit - I remember using CompuServe also (and the sounds of my original 1200 baud modem)!

Taught by Unix guru John Lions (author of the annotated Unix source code book) Lucky dog, you. Never could find a Bitcoin client that ran well on the PDP-11 though. The 16-bit satoshi client is due out any day now.

Shit - I remember using CompuServe also (and the sounds of my original 1200 baud modem)! I had 300baud... direct coupled thankfully... there used to be public x.25 dialups in most cities here called 'datapac' .. and you would dial up to that and enter an address to get to compuserve... the best thing on there was the CB simulator.

Any of you guys ever heard of Bill Budge? I actually was sent 6502 assembly source code from him back in the 80's when I was hoping to become the next "him" writing arcade games for the Apple ][.

I haven't heard his name since then. I used to play around with his pinball software.

Yeah - his "Pinball Construction Set" actually pre-dated the Mac (not sure if he visited Palo Alto like Apple did)!
