Question About GPU matching

I have in my rig today 2 Sapphire HD 7950 OC 3gb and I want to add  another Graphics Card, However I was not avail to find the same 7950 in the market, Can my 3rd gpu be from another brand's 7950 with different vRam?  Also can I put a different card such as RX480?

If this is for mining ETH coin  you can have different cards and still mine ETH coin with all the different cards.


If it is about mining other coins like LTC  that is also true.


You should ask for this to be in the Alt coin section .


If you are mining btc with your gpus you are wasting money.

Thank you for reminding me I was in the wrong section. I moved it in the Altcoins discussion section. Also thank you for your help anout gpu matching. I hope I can find a bargain 7950 soon.

You can mix the different graphics from same AMD or nVidia to do the mining. Do not mix AMD with nVidia cards.

Im pretty sure you can mix amd and nvidia if your mining, shouldnt make any difference. Only time you wouldnt want to is for xfire or anything like that which doesnt matter if your a miner anyways.

I've mind with nvidia and amd on the same rig and it worked. I was selling my gtx 970 adn 750 ti's and replacing them with 380x for Eth mining and was mining with a mix of cards and it worked. I wouldn't purposely plan a rig with both but you can certainly mine with both brands on one rig if needed, at least on windows 7.

You can mix as much as you like, only benefit of one brand is easy to set voltage and OC settings by afterburner or prefered tool, or use bios editor VBE7 then you have no problem setting any GPU as you like

atm my old rig has 3x 7950 asus and 1x Powercolor 280x (voltage is set by bios editor) and for 3x asus I use afterburner which linked all the same card (asus) if they are different you must set one by one
