hello,

with the new wallet on blockchain.info, there is no option to download an encrypted version of the user private key of the wallet.
They only give you the option to have a security phrase but no explanation on how to recover the user's funds in an event the site blockchain.info disappear.

any information on this?

thanks a lot.

It's open source so I assume you could just host another one in your local computer and recover whatever you want , other then that you could do this : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-2l6xOqcbjs9QWEqSh72RD1d8EEdvG_hQuEXw_f_o6w/edit (this was originally posted by Quickseller on the forums)

how to host another one in my local computer?

for the second solution, I am interested in case blockchain.info disappears . but this supposes the site is still online.

What I gave you should do the job, I mean you could save your private keys now and print them & save them somewhere safe In case Blockchain.info goes offline for one reason or another.

As for hosting it in your local computer , this may require some programming knowledge . I assume this is the source code of the wallet (I'm not sure though) : https://github.com/blockchain/My-Wallet-V3-Frontend , you can host and recover using your seed AFAIK.

Once again , I'm not sure If the new wallet of Blockchain gives a seed or not. So It's probably better to just use the first method I gave you and store the private keys somewhere safe.

Thanks for your reply.

Your solution might be a trick.

But what worry me the most is that blockchain.info doesn't provide a solution to this problem like in their old wallet.
There is no guideline on how to recover your fund in case the site go down or disappear.

When you search for backup into the FAQ and blog section, it only give as results the 12 words recovery process in case you loose your password and also they say that it can be use in case blockchain.info disappear but no explanation how to use those twelve words recovery phrase in order to get back your BTC if Blockchain.info go down for ever or a long time.

Old version was providing a way to download the private key (encrypted with your password) along with an explanation how to recover your funds in case blockchain.info go down.

I agree ,they didn't give a decent amount of information for users for what comes to this new wallet. It's probably best to contact them and ask them about this.
I just searched btw , It seems like they are going to implement the signing messages soon : https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/210353833-What-is-message-signing-and-how-can-I-do-that- which means that users will have control over their private keys so I assume exporting private keys will come with it in the future. Good luck !
