I got faced with the following error on my ubuntu:

EXCEPTION: NSt8ios_base7failureE
CAutoFile::read : end of file
bitcoin in AppInit()

EXCEPTION: NSt8ios_base7failureE
CAutoFile::read : end of file
bitcoin in CMyApp::OnUnhandledException()

I read elsewhere that I should delete the block data as my power plug got pulled with no battery on my laptop likely resulting in some error in the block download.

On my current system, I have 4 blk*.dat files of 2gb each roughly. Is this normal to have so many blk files?

-Where can we get the expected size of these blk.dat files ?
-Overall, I have 300MB left on my current system and would like a light wallet option ?

thank you !

Yeah the current blockchain have this size.

A light weight is Eletrum, where you don't download the blockchain, and all the info you need from the blockchain is got from an Eletrum server.

thanks.
I have my electrum with a new wallet.
Dare I ask how to import my existing/old wallet into this Electrum?

It is asking me for my private key.
My research online has lead me to PyWallet.

Do I need to dive into that inorder to exctract my private key? I would imagine my wallet has more than one private key correct?

The easy way would be importing your wallet into a Blockchain.info wallet and then sending those coins to the Electrum wallet. PyWallet works well for what it does, but to ensure smooth usage of PyWallet it helps to have a strong technical background on what exactly the wallet file has. On the other hand Blockchain.info is drag and drop.

Oh, and when you send your coins from Blockchain.info to Electrum make sure to include some amount of token fee to make sure the transaction gets confirmed in a timely manner.

Which one of these options allows me to drag and drop my wallet.dat file?

A wallet.dat can only be imported into a fresh wallet:

https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet
