Hello all  Smiley

I'm a Bitcoin newbie who has read all the starter documentation. I have not installed any Bitcoin software or created a wallet. I have a solid background in crypto, electronics, and programming. I have two devices lying around unused: a Xilinx Spartan 3E FPGA, and a Raspberry Pi model B. I would like to turn these devices into a small mining experiment. My problem is there is so much information that I don't know where to start. I've had a look in the mining forum, but I can't find any detailed instructions relevant to my setup.

Could someone tell me if my idea of combining these two devices is feasible, and how I should go about starting?

Cheers

Uh, Probably because the OP wants to install linux/CGminer on the Rpi to control the FPGA, since it uses like 6 watts.

OP, I'd look at the following links:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=9047.260
https://github.com/teknohog/Xilinx-Serial-Miner
(This is Spartan6, but good info nonetheless) http://www.ztex.de/btcminer

Hope I could help...

The Xilinx Serial Miner is exactly what I need! Thank you very much for the link.  Smiley

It's been a while since I programmed an FPGA. Any there any instructions to be found?

Also, what software do I need on the linux platform (Raspbian Wheezy) to talk to the FPGA while mining?

Thanks

I've made some progress, and posted it in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159966.0
